KINGMAN, Ind. — Robert E. Arvin, 88, a retired farmer, died at 7:25 a.m. Friday July 30, 1971 at the Carmen Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health for several years and had formerly resided with a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Bessie) Tunin, of near Kingman. Born May 8, 1883, in Taylor County, Ky., he was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Allen Arvin. He was married Dec. 21, 1904, to Effie Carlile, who died July 19, 1947. He was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church near Waveland. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Tunin, Mrs. Glen (Mattie) Palmer of Veedersburg Route 4, Mrs. Mark (Virgina) Oliver of Bay Village, Ohio, and Miss Kathryn Arvin of Chicago; four sons, Willard and Stanley, both of Indianapolis, Robert of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Dr. Charles Arvin of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Hubert Morris of Camelsville, Ky.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Woodrow Funeral Home. The Rev. Eston Brooks officiated. Burial was in Phanuel Cemetery near Wallace.
